Right. Have you ever had to do something but not quite had the right words, and typed it many times and STILL not had the right words?
Well that's me right now.
I have had some incredible experiences of late, and met some incredible people, who have tipped my scales in a direction that I think I was heading in anyway...
I have been thinking and praying for quite a while about what direction my business will go in, and recently have met some people who have made up my mind for me.
I recently met the most special woman who is not travelling so well on her journey with cancer. In the same week, I lost a family friend - the mum of one of our close friends, also to cancer. In the last year, I have been touched by a special family who had been blessed by a precious angel after losing two special bubbies, and a very close friend of a friend who lost one of her twins who came to us too early.
It has made me appreciate that while all of my favourite clients (that's y'all) love my work and I love you all, that there are some families out there who are not going along so well and could do with some more help than others.
In light of this, I will no longer be taking paid bookings. What I will be doing, is working with families on a voluntary basis, who are currently working with teminal and crtitical illnesses, little angels who have come to us too early, or left too early, and families who have just been suffering through no fault of their own and are in need on their special day.
All of my current bookings will be lovingly attended to - I will not be cancelling any existing bookings. And all orders in the pipeline will be attended to with the same care as always.
From now onwards however, I will be only taking on families who might like someone to help them make some loving memories of their families at a time when they may or may not be paying for more important things.
I will miss my regular contact with my regular clients - PLEASE keep me updated on my little ones that I won't be visiting any more. I still want my snapshots sent through!
For my new families - if you have someone special in your life that you might like me to meet, please call me or send me an email, I'd love to talk with you.
I won't be able to work with everyone, I wish I could, but I only have so many hours in a day. If there are other photographers out there that would like to join me PLEASE send me through an email or call me, I'd also love to hear from you!
So for now, I'm looking forward to meeting you all. Please don't forget to keep in touch guys - you know who you are. And here's to a new chapter.
With love,
Lia and Family.

Good on you Lia! I am sure you will look back on your decision years from now and be glad for what you chose.
Somethings have lasting value, for both the families and you!

I am one of the lucky last who was blessed to have Lia take some wonderful memories of my daughter, my mum, my best friend and me before she takes a new direction in her life. Thanks for honouring the date (on her daughters birthday no less) and giving my mum something she will treasure the rest of her life and making my 40th something to remember forever. You have made me forever young! Thankyou.

Hi Lia
I have finally had a chance to visit your site after had your details forwarded to me back in January!
Having recently lost a close young friend -29 years old - with two young children quickly to cancer (10 weeks), I think your decision to work in a voluntary capacity to create special memories for those who have had personal battles for whatever reason is quite honourable and should be applauded. It is people like you who make us remember what is important in life and to cherish what we are so lucky to have every day.
I wish you and your family nothing but the best in your future endeavours.
Best regards
Pru

Hi Lia
Sorry to bother you but I somehow came across your site and noticed that you are not taking on any more paid shoots and are now doing terminally ill children and other children/families in need.
I just thought you might be interested as I am a photographer myself and take part in a voluntary service that also does the same sort of work. You can see the website which has all the information here: http://www.acocp.org.au/ we could always use another SA photographer on our team (currently we have 7 members in SA so far). You can contact Gemma for information on membership @ gemma@acocp.org.au
Okay I'll leave you in peace now and by the way your work is wonderful!
Cheers
Philly
